Urgent Appeal: Solidarity with Bondi & Critical Blood Donation Drive

Dear ASLA Members and Community,
We extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and all those affected by the tragic events in Bondi. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their loved ones, and the first responders who acted with courage and compassion during this heartbreaking time.
In light of this tragedy, hospitals across Australia are facing an urgent need for blood donations to support those injured.
Critical Need for O-Negative Blood
The Australian Red Cross Lifeblood has issued an urgent request for donors, specifically noting:
- Urgent shortage: There is a critical need for O-negative blood.
- Why it is vital: Fewer than 7% of the population have O-negative blood, yet it is the universal type used in emergencies when a patient’s blood type is unknown.
- High demand: In cases of severe trauma, up to 100 blood donations may be required to save just one life.
How You Can Help
We kindly encourage all eligible donors within our community to consider donating in the coming days.
- Book Online: Visit www.lifeblood.com.au to schedule your appointment.
- Call 24/7: Dial 13 14 95 to book over the phone.
- Share the message: Please encourage family, friends, and colleagues to donate as well.
To meet the increased demand, Lifeblood is currently transporting supplies from interstate and urging the public to donate more. This simple act of selfless service can make an extraordinary difference.
On behalf of the Australia Sri Lanka Association (ACT), we thank you for standing together in compassion and solidarity during this difficult time.
